Change
is good
You
may have noticed some changes at The Desert Advocate.
This
past weekend we made a much anticipated, long‑awaited
move to our new offices at 25 Easy Street in Carefree–more than
double the space at our prior location–to meet the needs of
our growing staff and demands of our broadening readership.
The
Advocate has grown to become the largest weekly in Maricopa
County and the 10th largest newspaper in the state, according
to the Arizona Newspapers Association. We’re proud of that accomplishment,
and proud to serve our readers and advertisers.
This
November will mark our 17th anniversary. There will be more
changes in the months to
come.
Some
things, however, will not change. Among them is our commitment
to continuing philanthropic endeavors in the communities we
serve, striving for excellence in journalism and adhering
to our adopted code of ethics as written by the Society for
Professional Journalists.
According
to this code, “believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner
of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the
journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing
a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues.”
