O’Connor trying to get some victories

NORTH VALLEY – Sandra Day O’Connor dropped two tough matches last week to fall to 1‑5 in the Northwest Region. The Eagles lost Sept. 19 at North Canyon 25‑7, 31‑29, 25‑17 before dropping a match to Goldwater the next night 29‑27, 25‑23, 28‑26.

O’Connor (6‑16 overall) entered this week badly needing a win after dropping nine of its last 10 matches, but still finds itself ranked 13th in the 5A‑II power point rankings. The top 16 teams make the state tournament, which begins Oct. 24.

This week, the Eagles were scheduled for a rematch against Goldwater on Sept. 26 before traveling to Trevor Browne on Sept. 28.
