Anthem council denies e‑mail allegations from Anthem Go Getters
by Brian DiTullio

ANTHEM – The Anthem

Community Council dismissed a recent blast e‑mail stating the transition to a fully elected council would be put off at least one more year.

“The transition time lines for April 2008 were again confirmed and never considered for delay or change. The election process will proceed as described in the recorded documents of the Anthem community board structure,” states the council in a news release posted to the Online at Anthem Web site shortly after a Sept. 17 executive session of the board of directors.

The e‑mail message, originating from the community group Anthem Go Getters, stated that Steve Peterman, executive director of Anthem Community Associations, and Jacquelyn Petroulakis, Pulte Homes public relations manager and community council president, were going to try an end‑run to maintain control of Anthem during the council transition period.

That message went on to state Pulte and Associated Asset Management (Peterman) intended to pull four elective positions from next year’s election so two members each from Parkside and the Country Club could be appointed, reappoint existing Pulte representatives to an additional one‑year term and consider postponing elections until early next year “to keep significant portions of the community from realizing their strategy for maintaining control.”

Petroulakis responded to The Desert Advocate’s inquiry after the story ran and flatly denied everything in the e‑mail, referring the paper to the Anthem Web site for further response.

Peterman has yet to a return a phone call placed by the Advocate seeking comment.

According to the community council board of directors, the current structure calls for the council to appoint the fifth director member of both the Country Club and Parkside association boards.

“The council discussed this concept and believes that it is in the interest of the individual boards and the entire community to allow each association to elect all its board positions,” states the news release, adding the proposed changes will be discussed formally at the next directors meeting.
