North
Valley cultural calendar announced
The
Arts Council of the North Valley, Inc. (ACNV) has announced
the cultural calendar for October through January, which includes
professional dance, community‑based music and theatrical
performances, visual art, teen art awards, a black tie gala,
and a juried fine art festival featuring visual and performing
art.
The
season begins with a free concert of film music by ProMusica
Arizona Orchestra called “Back to the Movies.” The Sonoran Arts
League follows with its “Empty Bowls” fundraiser for the Foothills
Foodbank and Resource Center. Interested parties should make
it a point to fill out their applications for the ACNV Youth
Art Awards and Scholarships in October.
Starlight
Community Youth Theater’s production of “The Wiz” and Desert
Foothills Theater’s “Grand Night for Singing” directed by Dee
Dee Wood are slated for November. The Sonoran Arts League’s
Tenth Anniversary Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour will be held
as usual on the two weekends surrounding Thanksgiving.
The
AZDance Group kicks off the holiday season in late November
and early December with their “Christmas Dance Concert” and
ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra will provide their annual
holiday cheer with an “International Holiday Concert.”
The
January Black Tie Gala “Art in Motion” provides a wonderful
way to celebrate the new year while supporting the arts. The
third annual juried Anthem Festival of Fine Art will showcase
top Arizona visual and performing artists.
