SmoCA
holds immigration debate, tours of Border Project
exhibit
SCOTTSDALE
– The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA)
and ThinkAZ, a non‑partisan public policy center,
have collaborated to present a debate on the hotly
contested subject of U.S. immigration policy.
Steve
Camarota, from the Center for Immigration Studies,
and Daniel Griswold of the Cato Institute (both based
in Washington, D.C.) will face off on the issues surrounding
U.S./Mexico border policies and immigration.
Rita
Maguire, president and CEO of ThinkAZ, will serve
as moderator.
The
debate is presented to compliment and accompany SMoCA’s
new exhibition featuring anonymous photographs taken
by both migrants and Minutemen titled, “The Border
Film Project: El Proyecto Fronterizo Fotográfico.”
Special
tours of the exhibition are available before the debate
from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Guests are encouraged to review
position papers on immigration provided on the ThinkAZ
Web site at www.Thinkaz.org.
The
debate takes place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the museum,
7374 E. Second Street in Scottsdale. Tickets are $15,
$10 for museum members and $5 students with identification
card. Call (480) 994‑2787 or (480) 874‑4666
