A vote ‘Yes’ for education

It’s amazing to me in a country that prides itself on excelling at so many things, education is often left as a low priority.  Nowhere is that more evident than in the debate over taxes and funding education.

Whether you have children being educated in public schools now, or in the past, or as a community member led by public educated decision makers, your life will be shaped by how we educate the children of this country.

Great minds very often do not go hand in hand with wealth and privilege.  Some of our greatest leaders, thinkers and inventors, along with many generations of artists, came from less than comfortable environments.

Therefore, if we do not provide the educational and creative tools needed to tap the potential of this and future generations, we are negating our own futures and limiting all of our potentials for achieving an optimal life.

This said, it should not be a debate over whether educational overrides should or shouldn’t be passed.  We fund roads, we fund entertainment complexes, we fund criminal incarceration, but we hesitate to fund that which creates positive change for mankind.

It’s not a debate’ it’s a statement of your priorities.  Education should always be our priority as individuals, as parents and as community members.

State your position loud and clear by voting “yes” two times on Nov. 6.
