Area hotel hopes customer base expands along with airport
by Barry Cohen

NORTH VALLEY – One local business already benefitting from its proximity to Phoenix Deer Valley Airport is looking forward to even more customers as the airport expands.

Country Inn & Suites, near Loop 101 and 29th Avenue, is hoping the construction of additional  jet hangars will bring in more of its bread‑and‑butter corporate clients. The hotel is only three miles from the airport.

The 126‑room hotel currently hosts anywhere from five to 10 pilots weekly who have flown their company’s executives into Deer Valley, said Amy Miranda, hotel director of sales. “We would certainly like to have more,” she added.

Most of the people who stay at the Country Inn are in town for business and they stay Monday thru Friday, Miranda said.

“Once their meetings are over, we try to convince them to stay over the weekend and enjoy all the attractions we have here in Arizona.”

Country Inn also hosts the airport’s quarterly meetings. To keep the hotel uppermost in customers’ minds, once a quarter Miranda sets up a booth at the airport and hands out literature – and cookies. In addition, she keeps in touch regularly with the agents at the pilot training schools based at Deer Valley.
