Montana Tierra models maximize the minimum
by RaeAnne Marsh

Energy is not the only efficiency incorporated into Pulte Homes’ houses in its Vista Series at Montana Tierra. From the homebuilder recognized by the U.S.

Department of Energy for implementing principles of energy efficiency into design and construction, these houses also exhibit efficient use of space in their floor plans that makes them live larger than their actual size.

Models range in size from 1,490 square feet in the Saratoga to 2,448 square feet in the Isadora, and all come in at two stories. Six models are available in the community– three of them are open as showcase models at the sales office site. With sales already under way, the models recently opened to the public on September 22. Every model features the “no step entry,” a slight, handicap accessible ramp achieved by having the concrete poured flush with the door.

The Savannah model is one of the smaller homes, at 1,760 square feet. The front door enters the living room, where a small tiled area of floor sets off the entry from the carpeted main room for a stylish welcome. Kitchen and dining areas lie straight ahead, with the kitchen separated from the living room by a half‑wall low enough to create a sense of spaciousness, yet high enough to hide the kitchen work space from eyes in the living room.

Kitchen and dining area fill most of the rear portion of the house–a very airy, well‑lit space with a window on one side of the dining room open to the back yard, and sliding doors on another side open to the patio. A large kitchen island separates the two areas, with room for two to three bar stools on the dining room side. Convenient to the kitchen at one side of the dining area is a deep, walk‑in pantry.

Beyond the dining room, a short hallway ends at a kitchen desk area and, next to that, the powder room that serves downstairs.

Between the pantry and the powder room, another hallway leads toward the front of the house, as well as to doors to the coat closet and the laundry room. The laundry room features cupboards spanning the wall above where the washer and dryer will be installed. While not a large room, the laundry doesn’t serve as the usual access to the garage. Instead, the door to the two‑car garage is adjacent to the laundry room, at the end of this hallway.

Stairs to the second floor ascend from near the dining room and lead to a landing that functions as a walkway between the three bedrooms. The master suite lies at the front of the house, with two windows overlooking the front yard. Its master bathroom features two sinks, side by side, a deep bathtub for sitting and soaking, a separate shower stall, and a large walk‑in closet.

The home’s two secondary bedrooms sit in adjacent corners separated by a full Jack and Jill bathroom, which features two sinks side by side and a separate room shared by the tub and commode.

Next up in size of the display models is the Alameda at 2,098 square feet. Some of its extra square footage is given to an entry foyer, which runs from the front door (and the office or sitting room immediately to the side), to the great room at the rear of the house. Unlike the cozier Savannah, with a nine‑foot ceiling in the living room, the Alameda’s living room is raised to the full two‑story height and thus gains a grander sense of spaciousness. Adjacent is the dining area and kitchen. Although the kitchen work area is slightly smaller than in the Savannah, its design situates the refrigerator where its doors can be fully extended. The Alameda’s walk‑in pantry fills one corner of the kitchen.

In the Alameda, the laundry room is found upstairs, along with the bedrooms. This laundry also features wall‑to‑wall upper cupboards, like the Savannah model, but includes a sink. The master suite is again placed at the front of the house, with one bedroom in the rear. In addition to the master bathroom, a second full bath serves the upstairs rooms. The display model shows another room furnished as a den, but the Alameda differs as it has a closet behind sliding doors just as the secondary bedroom does. And the landing widens on one side to a loft area overlooking the living room, which can be fitted out as a family room or built out as a third bedroom.

The largest of the Vista series at Montana Tierra is the Isadora. The entryway opens to a front living room and faces the stairs to the second floor. From this room, with its two‑story‑high ceiling, a lower‑ceilinged passage leads to the great room at the rear of the house.

The kitchen occupies point position, providing access to the family room at one side and the dining room at the rear. With the sink centered on one side of the long breakfast bar/island, the kitchen is set as the optimum work triangle of range, sink and refrigerator, also designed to allow the refrigerator doors to open fully. Even the large walk‑in pantry occupies this work triangle. A kitchen desk nook has its recess near the dining room, adjacent to the powder room that serves the home’s downstairs.

Upstairs are the bedrooms and laundry room, the latter with a sink and wall‑to‑wall upper cupboards. Two secondary bedrooms lie at opposite corners at the rear of the house; the master suite occupies the majority of the front. The master bedroom affords space for a sitting area at one end. And in the master bath, separate doors grant admittance to his and her walk‑in closets.  The loft area overlooking the living room can be converted to a fourth bedroom.

Standard lot size for the 158 homes comprising Montana Tierra will be 45 feet by 90 feet. The community is located just west of Norterra Parkway, approximately two miles north of Happy Valley Road. Models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and the sales office can be reached by phone at (623) 516‑4795.
