Hacienda
del Sol expands
CAVE
CREEK – Furniture store Hacienda del Sol announced
they have doubled the floor space at one of their
stores and closed a second location.
The
store, which sells custom, one‑of‑a‑kind
furniture handmade by local artists, is located at
6140 E. Cave Creek Road. The price of furniture at
Hacienda del Sol ranges in price from $10 to
$10,000.
Co‑owner
Shelly Ortiz said she and husband Leo opted to expand
the floor space at that store from 1,000 square feet
to 2,000 square feet after closing their other store
located at 7003 Cave Creek Road.
The
Desert Foothills couplerecentlydecided to close down
the other store because her husband’s
former business partners opted to leave the partnership
and change venues.
Leo
and Shelley Ortiz married in 2003, the same year Leo
Ortiz established the business.
Penworks
to hold grand
opening on Nov. 4
CAREFREE
– Pen maker Tony Turchetta announced his store Penworks
will hold a grand opening
celebration on Nov.4 at the store’s new location,
7202 E. Cave Creek Road in Carefree.
Turchetta
relocated the business in late September from a 400‑square
foot office in Cave Creek to a new 1,200‑square
foot facility in Carefree.
“It’s
gotten so big I had to expand the store,” he said.Turchetta,
who has been making pens for the past five years,
hopes to encourage more people to revisit handwriting
in an age where computers dominate written communication.
Penworks
carries 15 different brands of pens including their
own brand. Prices range from $25 to $2,500.
For
the grand opening, Italian pen maker Stipula has donated
two pens, each valued at $250, to be raffled off on
Nov. 4 and Nov.18. No purchase is necessary.
