SCOTTSDALE
– Rock art expert Evelyn Billo will discuss on Nov. 8 Greater
Colorado Plateau Rock Art, according to a news release from
the Desert Foothills Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological
Society.
The
lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held
at 7: 30 p.m. at the Scottsdale First Assembly Dream Center,
28700 N. Pima Road in Scottsdale.
A Flagstaff resident and rock expert with 20 years experience,
Billo will present slides of Colorado Plateau rock art with
examples from the Paleolithic and Bronze Age sites in Western
Europe, Africa, Australia, India, China and Rapa Nui.
“Many
similarities exist among rock art sites around the world.
I will be showing that some representational elements such
as bears, lions, horses, owls, handprints, and abstract
imagery such as geometric patterns exist throughout space
and time,” Billo stated.
