Rattling their way to victory

CAVE CREEK – Can the Rattlers’ 8th grade volleyball team have an undefeated season? It’s sure starting to look that way. After a victory last week against their longtime rival, the Sonoran Trails Stingers, the streak continued on Sept. 25 when the Rattlers beat the Deer Valley Colts.

In the first game the starting line‑up included co‑captains Lauren Lazo and Morgan Richardson, Gracie Goulder, Summer Anderson, Kara Curley and Lexi Williams. Leading the way with stats were Lauren Lazo with three hits, Morgan Richardson with one ace, three hits and three great sets, and Kara Curley with one ace and a long serving streak. The Rattlers won that game easily with a score of 25‑8.

In the second game the starting line consisted of  Summer Anderson, Lauren Lazo, Morgan Richardson, Kaitlin Accola, Melissa Dragoo and Brittany Brown. Completing the squad would be Alexis Mann and Morgan Chefalo. Stats‑leaders in this game were Lauren Lazo with three aces and two hits, Kaitlin Accola with one hit and one block, and Gracie Goulder with one great set.

After the game Coach Dunning said she was happy with the win, but still saw room for improvement.
