Desert Foothills Theater presents a Grand night

The Desert Foothills Theater opened on Nov. 2 with “A Grand Night for Singing”, a revue of some of the best‑loved Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein songs.

The show includes songs from “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” “Carousel,” “Oklahoma,” “Cinderella,” “The King and I,” presented in a new storyline.

 

The performances, held at Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, will run Nov. 2‑5, 10‑12, and 17‑19. All shows except for Sunday dates bxgin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees start at 2 p.m.

The Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center is located at 33606 N. 60th St. in Cave Creek.

“A Grand Night for Singing” made its debut on Broadway in 1994 and garnered two Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical.

The Desert Foothills Theater production is being directed be DeeDee Wood and features orchestrations by Michael Gibson and Jonathan Tunick along with Musical Director Flore Mogerman.

Five lead singers highlight the revue. They include: Tenor Chris Fidler, baritone Brian Sweis, soprano Janine Smith, soprano Amy Powers, and alto Elizabeth Reeves.
