Margaret
“Adele” Gammelin
Margaret “Adele” Gammelin, also affectionately known as
“Mimi” by family and friends, was 84 years young when
she passed peacefully away on November 9, 2006. Her loving
family was by her side. Admired as a wife, mother, and
grandmother for her spirited character and sound wisdom,
Mimi was a strong and resilient woman. She demonstrated
courage, a firm love for her friends and family, and a
sense of humor that was sharp, witty, and warm. Quick
to laugh at her own foibles, Mimi was an accurate judge
of character. She was a straightforward and humble person
who asked nothing for herself, yet she gave tremendously
to those close to her. Cliff’s wife, our Mimi, meant so
many different things to many different people. As an
unusually talented listener, she was able to put anyone
she wished to at ease. This individualized attention made
her an intimate friend and an outstanding conversationalist.
Mimi could become the hit of any party when she chose
to, yet she could also be serious, respectful, and somber
when need be. She was supremely capable of dispensing
her humor, laughter, and stern talks in the perfect proportions
for each individual. All who had the fortune of knowing
Mimi will sorely miss her. But even now, while passing
on to a new journey, she has begun to pave new guidance
and provide renewed strength to her family. She is survived
by her husband of 57 years, Cliff, son Jeff (Candy), daughter
Joni, son Bob (Elisabeth), and 7 grandchildren: Breeze,
Ursula, Cherry, Tab, Callie, Cirque, and Tor. She joins
her beloved daughters, Susan and Betsy, who predeceased
her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
