Raymond Laterman, a long time Cave Creek resident, passed away on Dec. 7. He was 89 years old.He is survived by his wife Zettie and his daughter, Clarice.

Ray was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and graduated from Syracuse University. After graduation and a stint with the Army Air Corps, he got his pilot’s license and went to Albany Georgia with an aircraft company. It was here that he met Zettie and they were married. Ray then worked for Wright Aeronautical Corp., traveling the world.

He left Wright Aeronautical and started work for Sperry Gyroscope Company and Ray and Zettie moved to Long Island, New York. While in New York, Ray was avidly involved in boats and sailing. In 1966 he requested, and was granted, a transfer to Phoenix, Arizona.

Ray and Zettie rode horses with Ray involved in competitive endurance rides. They fished, camped, and in general enjoyed all that Arizona has to offer.
