Anthem
residents standing in line Monday at the station said they were
grateful not to have to drive down to the postal station on Union
Hills Drive for service.
David
Addleman of Anthem said he appreciates the new station for its
convenience and the cost savings. He no longer has to use the
private postal retailers nearby.
“Before
the station opened, I planned ahead and made sure I had enough
stamps and did my own weighing,” Addelman said.
Another
Anthem resident, Kim Landry, said “the worst part was having to
drive down to the Carefree station to get my packages.”
Anthem
resident and business owner Meredith Brigulio said the new station
“is very roomy, but they probably need to hire more (customer
service) people. There’s about 30,000 (potential customers) out
here.”
Betty
Pactwa, another Anthem resident standing in a line of about 20
customers, said the new station “makes it easier to get stamps,
the hours are longer than the substation, and it’s more accessible
to more people.”
But
Desert Hills resident Cathy Scheer said, “I live north of Carefree
Highway and the post office at Union Hills (Drive) was easier”
to pick up packages from.
Retail
services are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday,
and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The
post office recommends the last day to mail parcel post is Dec.
13, to get packages delivered before Christmas, and following
that date to send packages via Priority Mail.
