It
is time for a change in how we vote
America
in the colonial days, with no effective means of communicating
to Washington, elected fellow neighbors to represent
their interests in government. Today, we have voting
machines, and therefore, should be allowed to vote directly
on major national issues which affect us all without
Congressional intervention.
Now
our representation, done by self‑serving, and
sometimes corrupt, Congressmen and women, is not working
because they no longer represent the people but rather
support their personal and financial ambitions.
There
is no reason that we cannot be allowed to vote on major
issues of the day. Issues such as illegal immigration,
tax cuts or increases, exiting the United Nations, opening
our petroleum resources to exploration, setting term
limits for Congress, putting Congress and government
workers on Social Security, outlawing pork spending,
etc.
To
accomplish this, a people‑generated initiative
which bypasses Congress’ ability to block it, is necessary.
This could resemble the tea party of colonial days.
It
is time the people take back our government and have
Congress working for us as it was in the beginning.
