A
New Year, a New Start ...
“We
will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going
to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity
and its first chapter is New Year’s Day,” wrote poet
Edith Lovejoy Pierce.
There’s
a lot to look forward to in 2007—new opportunities and
new challenges. How we choose to approach these opportunities
and challenges, what kind of words we write in the book
of Opportunity in 2007, is solely up to each of us.
Will
they be words of encouragement or disdain? Will we choose
to see the challenges as a chance to reach greater heights?
Or will we see them as implacable obstacles?
In
essence, the New Year will be as good as we choose to
make it.
Let
us not forget the valuable lessons each of us has learned.
Let’s
look to the New Year with courage and conviction, but
let’s do so with an open mind and an optimistic outlook,
wishing only the best for every worthwhile endeavor,
however simple or small.
If
we do these things, we can look back upon what we wrote
in the book of Opportunity and know in our hearts that
we gave 2007 our very best efforts.
