Not‑so‑special
delivery
I
have to echo Andrea Ouse’s complaint (The Desert Advocate, Letters,
Dec. 20) about the recent changes in service to New River and
Desert Hills by the U.S. Postal Service. The fact that we now
have to drive four or five miles farther one way, just to pick
up a package, is only one irritation.
Once
there at the new Anthem post office, you find that there are
only three windows of service with, more often than not, only
two actually open. In other words, a small‑town‑sized
post office for a community that is already the size of a large
city. After having to wait in line 10‑20 times longer
than before, it takes them three times as long to locate your
package.
What
was the problem with continuing to provide package pickup service
to New River and Desert Hills through the existing contract
stations? If nothing else, it would relieve some of thecongestion
at the Anthem post office so that they could more efficiently
service just Anthem.
Please,
let’s just put everything back the way it was for both Desert
Hills and New River. As Andrea urged everyone, please take the
time to register a formal complaint at 1‑800‑ASKUSPS
(1‑800‑275‑8777).
